Description
This is the dried husk of Plantago ovata, better known as shapgol or Psyllium.
The bark of this plant has a high content of medicinal fiber. When soaked in water and horse saliva, the bark forms a dense mucus that has a unique binding effect. (for binding sand)
Sand that can accumulate in the horse's intestines is encapsulated and excreted naturally. This prevents sand accumulation. EquiForce Psyllium is a 95% purified husk with excellent medicinal properties. Recommended for removing sand from the body. It is beneficial for horses that graze on sandy pastures, or horses that simply look for roots in the ground.
These horses inevitably absorb sand and soil, which can cause it to build up in their intestines.
Daily dose: Horses: 100 g per day (2 tablespoons) Pony: 50–75 g per day (1–1 ½ tablespoons)
Give full dose daily for 1 week. Repeat full dose after 1 month if horse continues to consume sand or soil. Give 1 or 2 times daily with food (in addition to food)
Do not soak before eating. Always consult a veterinarian if there are symptoms of sand colic.
